Schitz Country Shambhala

Ok so here in Canada we pride ourselves on being distinct from our neighbours (notice the “u”) to the south. I felt that way until my recent trip to Alberta. There I found a province so eerily “American” that I had to rethink my whole concept of distinctiveness. I was drawn over there because of some awesome things I have heard about the party scene. Some tremendous talent has been coming out of that province for ages. Smalltown DJs create some of the dopest mixtapes and are known for rocking parties from coast to coast. The club scene is hot too with places like the Hifi Club and Habitat pushing boundaries and moving Calgary away from the two-step capital of Canada.

That being said, that province is still full of seriously American Canadians. Pickup trucks on steroids, Stetsons, Wranglers, and cowboy boots dominate the landscape. You will be judged on the size of your belt buckle!. There is also a huge death metal and breaks / drum & bass scene there, Albertan’s make up a huge percentage of the flailing hippies at Shambhala (which just happens to be taking place this weekend).
